Spa chemicals are important beyond comprehension. Every time we splash in the hot tub, we leave trails of debris, bodily fluids, and other disgusting bacteria in the water.

Bromine is one of the elite hot tub chemicals. Available in tablets used a couple at a time, bromine reacts against the effect of polluting ultraviolet rays from the sun and rids the pool of the foul smell that can come from chlorine (a chemical that gives whirlpool tub water its green color, with a smell closely resembling bleach.) Another chemical in the form of tablets are clarifiers. During spa, jacuzzi, and whirlpool tub use, skin cells, urine, and makeup can cause the hot tubs water to become cloudy. Clarifiers help combine all of these particles into clumps making it easier for accessories such as spa vacuums to suck them away. Special chemicals called sequestrian agents deter metals in the water from messing up the spas surface and finish. They are also used to remove stains with spa brushes. In addition, there is a plethora of other hot tub chemicals such as sodium carbonate and sodium bisulphate (which maintain proper pH levels) which work miracles in keeping healthy water.

Besides spa accessories such as spa nets and spa brushes which scrub away debris and clear the surface, spa chemicals react aggressively against waterborne pollutants maintaining a healthy water environment.

Here are some of the more popular chemicals working in whirlpool tubs, Jacuzzis, spas, and hot tubs today.  In essence, outdoor living in spas and hot tubs would not be as enjoyable without the use of these chemicals. Properly sanitized water can reduce the effects of skin irritation, exposure to bodily germs, and dirt which all contribute to shortening the life span of your whirlpool tubs and spas. Exercise a proper maintenance regimen at least once a week using spa accessories and chemicals to keep your jacuzzi running as good as new.
