Turkey. If gas grills had feelings, they would enjoy having turkeys cooked on them.

Barbeque smokers, the gas grill, and other grilling machines can be used to cook the finest turkey you’ve ever eaten. Plump, just right in fat content, and superbly cooked are just some of the features a perfect turkey has. Before you start barbequing, make sure you select the right turkey. Walking into the store, grabbing a barbecue turkey from the shelf, paying for it, and running home to slap it on the barbecue smoker just doesn’t cut it.

The following is a 'gas grills' presentation on how to select the best turkey for you and your family.

The first rule of thumb when buying a barbecue turkey is to buy enough to feed your family. Aim for 2 pounds a person. If you have 4 people in your family, 12 lbs. turkeys are enough for feeding and leftovers. Remember, we follow rules in operating and running our barbeque smokers and gas grills so following guidelines apply here as well. Make sure you buy your bbq turkey a day before actual grilling to preserve its freshness. A 10 day old turkey cannot be turned fresh again. Although the best barbecue smoker can work miracles on an old turkey, don’t play your cards this way.

Packaging should always be inspected prior to purchasing. Play the right hand of cards by checking for holes and tears in the plastic. Damaged packaging can be a sign of tampering or mistreatment on its way to the supermarket. Recipes can turn sour in the blink of an eye if you don’t possess the eye of a grilling aficionado in checking for these deficiencies. Grilling requires observation and foresight as well! Also keep in mind that a fresh turkey is superior to a frozen turkey! I bet that brick BBQ or that Bonza Aussie Gas Grill can perform miracles with just about anything – but follow the guidelines just to be sure! To your health!
